Spruce Grove

Spruce Grove's first Winter Festival

Spruce Grove hosted its first Winter Festival on February 20, 2017. Many of us came together to enjoy street hockey, live music, and scrumptious local food. I had a great time handing serving pancakes! I can't wait for the next event and for the further revitalization of Spruce Grove's downtown.

Celebrating Pioneer Valentine's Day Tea

I had a wonderful time at Pioneer Valentine's Day Tea with my colleague Erin Babcock, MLA for Stony Plain. This event celebrates folks living in Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, and Parkland County who have been married for over 50 years! We were thrilled to join and spend the afternoon with everyone.

Touring Cargill Value Added Meats

Thank you to Cargill for showing me and many of my NDP Caucus colleagues around your plant in Spruce Grove! Cargill is a leader in renewable resource based production and has invested almost $500 million into our province. I'm proud to have helped showcase one of our community's economic leaders.

Fun fact: Cargill supplies 100% of the beef to McDonalds Canada.

Grand Opening of Prescott Learning Centre

Prescott Learning Centre is an exciting new project for Spruce Grove. Even better, it's a completed project! This new K-9 school will service Spruce Grove's growing population of young families and offers a modern education experience for students.

Here's a photo from the grand opening, when I had the pleasure of touring the school with David Eggen, Minister of Education, and Stuart Houston, Mayor of Spruce Grove.

Read-In Week

I was delighted to spend a lot of time participating in this year's Read-In Week, as well as speaking to a number of grade six classes about government and why democracy is important. Everyone loves The Lorax!

Open Arts Competition in Spruce Grove

I was pleased to join the Allied Arts Council of Spruce Grove for their annual Open Arts Competition. I had a great time getting to know the talented artists in our community and helping hand out awards.

Knocking on Doors in Spruce Grove

The most important part of being an MLA is connecting with you and making sure your voice is heard in Alberta's Legislature. To that end, I've made it a priority to knock on doors in my constituency - here's a photo from a recent outing in Spruce Grove.

Feel free to contact my office to share your feedback if you weren't home when I stopped by!

Spruce Grove Ag Society's Farm and Heritage Carnival

I had a great time at the Farm and Heritage Carnival, hosted by the Spruce Grove & District Agricultural Society at the historic grain elevator. Here's a shot of the busy admissions desk. It was a great event!

McLeod Avenue Plaza Block Party

My constituency office recently participated in McLeod Avenue Plaza's Social Sales on the Sidewalk Block Party.

We had a wonderful turnout and couldn't have asked for better weather. I was able to chat with a number of constituents and heard a lot of positive feedback on the Climate Leadership Plan.

Our block party was put on in part to support Spruce Grove City Centre Revitalization. I can't wait to see what comes next for the downtown core!

Celebrating Canada Day in Spruce Grove

Spruce Grove threw a wonderful Canada Day Celebration this year and it was my pleasure to join in the festivities. I helped serve breakfast, said a few words on behalf of the province, and was able to speak with a number of constituents. I can't wait for next year!

On Canada Day we celebrate all that has made this nation a great place to live, and dedicate ourselves to leave it a little better than we found it. That is how we show our gratitude for those who helped build Canada before us, and how we show our respect and care for those who come after us.

Fun in the Sun at the Spruce Grove Life and Leisure Expo

I had a great time touring the Spruce Grove Life and Leisure Expo. There was a petting zoo, a lot of games to play, and some fantastic food. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the many great businesses in the Tri Region. I found time to relax at the 'campground' courtesy of Parkland County and sampled Famoso's award winning Cavoletti Waffle.

Visiting St. Thomas Aquinas High School

I recently had the opportunity to speak with the grade 6 classes at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. We skipped my formal presentation about my role as MLA for Spruce Grove - St. Albert and jumped right into a Q&A. You all had so many good questions and it was my pleasure to share my thoughts and answers with such bright minds. See you again soon!
