I was proud to join Jandel Homes and numerous community groups and businesses to kick-off 2016's Fill A House campaign. This campaign helps make the holiday season special by delivering gifts to less fortunate children in the Tri-Region.
Meeting with Residents at West Country Hearth
I recently visited West Country Hearth seniors facility in Sturgeon County to speak with residents about what our province is doing to help our aging population, in particular the appointment of Seniors Advocate Sheree Kwong See and the work she will conduct on behalf of Alberta's seniors.
The 2016 Open Farm Days in Alberta kicked off at Gold Forest Farms in Sturgeon County.
My colleagues and I had a wonderful time learning about Gold Forest Farms' commitment to green initiatives and quality, local food.
This fourth annual Alberta Open Farms Days is a collaborative project presented by the Government of Alberta, Ag for Life, the Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies, Travel Alberta and participating farms, ranches and agricultural societies. The major events take place on August 21 and 22 - for more information check out albertaopenfarmdays.com
Touring Parkland County with the Agriculture Service Board
It was my pleasure to join Parkland County on their Agriculture Service Board Tour. We explored much of the county and I was able to snap this shot of the beautiful Alberta countryside.
It was also a great opportunity to speak with constituents who joined the tour. We shared a number of stories and I learned a lot.
Calahoo's new Community Hall
I had a wonderful evening attending the grand opening of Calahoo's new community hall. As you can see, it's huge!
This project was a massive undertaking and was made possible by the efforts of Calahoo's hard-working, dedicated community volunteers, as well as funding from the Government of Alberta, Sturgeon County, and our many private and public partners. I'm looking forward to attending future events at the new hall.
Touring Sturgeon County and Redwater Northwest Refinery
I recently had the opportunity to tour Sturgeon County with Mayor Tom Flynn. We enjoyed a meaningful afternoon of taking in the countryside (just look at that view!) while discussing the needs of our shared communities.
We even stopped by the Redwater Northwest Refinery, which is making excellent process and is nearly commercially operational. I'm glad we continue to add value to our resources right here in Alberta.
Volunteering for Telus Kits for Kids
I was happy to volunteer for Telus Kits for Kids. Because of this great initiative, students at the Parkland Village School just north of Spruce Grove will receive some extra supplies during the upcoming session in the fall. I'm happy to have helped make this possible.
